Tenants’ right to buy their freehold
We have been helping groups of flat owners to acquire their freeholds and take control of their own block management since the Right to Buy legislation was introduced in 1993. From modern blocks to Regency conversions, we have helped tenants exercise their statutory right to ‘enfranchise’. Over the last five years alone our Long Leasehold Team have dealt with well over 500 blocks of flats ranging in size from over one hundred flats down to two or three.

We have also acted for numerous landlords in dealing with enfranchisement claims against freeholds they own. We have conducted cases at the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal, County Court, Lands Tribunal and one in the Court of Appeal in this area of the law, but most cases are of course settled by negotiation.
We were one of the first firm of solicitors to be listed by LEASE, the government backed Leasehold Advisory Service and are also members of ALEP (Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practioners).
The firm has been chosen as finalists in the 2009 Regional Enfranchisement Solicitor of the Year category which have been organized by News on the Block, an organization which provides help and advice to flat owners.
